Four Steps to Health

Updated: Nov 8, 2018

A long term strategy for health includes a series of lifestyle-oriented goals that include nutrition, movement and lifestyle. It’s also about reducing the complexity of your diet, exercise and lifestyle habits. Find the time and space to have fun and enjoy life. Sleep, seek sunlight, play and find creative intellectual outlets, along with personalized diet and exercise. This holistic approach to health will help everyone achieve a healthier self.

  1. MOVE – physical exercise is the first step to long term health.

  2. RECOVER – relax, sleep in, take some time for yourself.

  3. NOURISH – eat vibrant, living foods. Purchase local, seasonal and organic foods whenever possible.

  4. PLAY – get outside, socialize, and lighten up. Life is short so enjoy it!

1. MOVE

Everyone benefits from low-level aerobic activity two to five hours a week, be it walking, hiking, easy bike riding yoga or swimming. No matter what your current fitness level is, the key is to move your body and breathe. Develop a regular exercise routine and you will experience the flow of vital energy and fulfillment.

2. RECOVER

Slow life down and let your body and mind recover from the fast pace of life. Disconnect from stimulus. Turn off phones and laptops and find a relaxing space with good lighting. If possible, get outside. Give your body lots of time and nutrition to recover from daily stressors.

3. NOURISH

Food is the single most important factor in body composition. You can exercise all you want, but if you’re eating garbage, and too much of it, you won’t get very far with your health goals. Work to avoid the hidden poisons in foods like refined sugars (especially high fructose corn syrups), processed foods, trans and hydrogenated fats, and mercury in certain fish.

*Always FAVOUR Organic, Local + Seasonal Foods

4. PLAY

Spend time outdoors, play team sports, socialize, get direct sunlight as much as possible. Natural sunlight has a powerful mood-elevating effect, as well as giving us the all-important Vitamin D.
